Went skiing tonight for the first time in about 13 years!

Great fun and it only took about 40 min for most of my knowledge to come back.

One thing, the skis you learn on these days are MUCH shorter than the pair I have from years ago. 2ft shorter in fact!

It was 1h 50m of guided practise. At the end the instructor said that while my stlye is a bit ragged ( which I knew ) there was no problem with my skiing as I was able to link snowplough turns with parallel traverses very well. The only problem was that boots didn't quite fit right as they were hired and not my own. ( If you have your own boots the shop will tweak the liner to your exact foot shape. )

All I have to do now is work out when I can do it again.

( Yes, I will get a skiiing icon so you don't have to watch the bouncy thing! )

I had to think about this, but as far as I can recall, I haven't been skiing since 1993. That's despite living in a town with a ski slope ten minutes bus journey from the town centre, and with two large alpine resorts within an hour's car journey, until 1999.

I'm sort of curious now if my old boots still fit, if the bindings still work, and if the edges on my skis are all rusted away or can be salvaged.

Glad you enjoyed your skiing, and were still able to do it :D

The bouncy thing is making me dizzy!
