Been to get my finger checked.

Verdict is arthritis!

Eh? I'm only 44!

Anyone got a zimmer frame? :-)

I lived with a friend who, at 20-something, had arthritis which caused her more than a little discomfort. Also she was a dancer which made it worse somehow.

Get a nice pair of gloves, and one of those clicky heaty things and you'll be right.

It was a bit whingey, wasn't it.

Seriously, I know there are people much worse off and it's hardly a problem as it's the top joint on my left hand little finger!

From what I've learnt I belive it's possible that in someone who's susceptable it can be trigged by an injury to the joint.

Several other family members have it so it's no surprise really.

Sorry to hear that Martyn *hugs*

I hear swimming is good, maybe waggle your finger a lot in the bath?

PS I have a close friend with arthritis so do let me know if you need any more constructive advice/info.

Can't wiggle my finger in the bath cos I have a shower each morning. ( I use that Lynx stuff as well but it never damn well works! :-) )

Thanks for the good thoughts. Mum used to help at a branch of ARC so I've got the basic info. One of the guys at work recommended glucosamine sulfate and chondroitin sulfate. I've been taking that for about 4 months now as mum suggested I try it to help my joints. Maybe should have started sooner.

BTW, the X-ray was interesting as the lower joint was nice and clear while the upper was fuzzy.

oooh did they let you have a copy of it? you could post it on your LJ ;-)

Meanwhile, has the doc given you advice on what to take for it too?
